Love
Such a lovely word - love. Some people claim we fall in love and others say we can choose to be
in love or not. I couldn't really tell you that either is true or false. Based upon personal experience
I know the person I met and the person I am with still today, will always be the love for
me. Then there is contraversy over what it is, an emotion or a feeling. Do we even know?
What You Can Say About Love
Only you can decide what love means to you? Companionship, friendship or just a feeling you can
never fully describe? Is it about trust, honesty and openness? This is something you have to decide
for yourself what it is all about. I could tell you what love is to me, but it would be meaningless and
not much of a help to you at all.
It's Different Amongst Friends
A friend is a friend, and nothing like a lover. In a friendship you can exhange opinions and ideas,
but in a relationship you share a piece of yourself; namely, your heart, mind and soul. You also
give up your individuality and become one with someone else. While with your friends, they are
still their own unique persons and so are you. While your lover is still your friend and often they
should be, it is quite different than just being friends.
Your will ultimately compliment each other. The things you do together will become more enjoyable,
as you share the experience. And much, much more comes out of it.
Then there is the aspect of whether or not both persons in a relationship are employed
having enough time for each other at a level they can enjoy together. Naturally, they would
have more money to spend than someone who is solely employed in a relationship, but this
is something to consider upfront, prior to getting into the relationship, as to what is best for
you.
Money and Where You Live
An online friend of mine finally found his way to South America, leaving the Netherlands,
in his own words, "for good". Why in the world would he do this? From all of his accounts
it is extremely inexpensive to live in the country he has choosen. As I recall, from all the
finance books I have read over the course of my lifetime, it is less expensive to live in
certain areas of the world. Where less than $50 a day can get you practically anything you
want and need. Wow, what a lucky guy, I say to myself.
Can you or should you do the same thing as he? Well, sometimes that depends on your
ability to relocate due to your working, family and personal habits. In my own case, I probably
could do the same, but due to my own preferrence, I don't think I would. But again, this is all
up to your own consideration and what you feel is best for you.
In Conclusion
Our personal finances can make or break us in many ways. While money can not buy us love,
it can help us to find it and determine whether or not the person we have found is right for us,
in all sorts of ways, "spiritually, physically and financially". I personally think that money is not
important, in my own relationship - my personal peace of mind is. Yet, you are the judge of
your own destiny and honestly, you always will be that person who controls what you say do and
feel. One more note about money and happiness - to me, it is a matter of what your own image
of yourself is and money has nothing to do with this.
